Advocacy & Policy
Progress is built on strong programs—and protected by visionary policy.
Take Action: Your Voice, Our Collective Impact
When we speak together, we create a community where everyone belongs.
Partner With Your Elected Officials
Personal stories are the most powerful tools for change. We help you connect with New York State and federal representatives to share the impact of disability services and the importance of supportive funding.
Join Advocacy Campaigns
Stay at the center of the movement. We’ll provide you with timely updates, clear talking points, and easy ways to make your voice heard on the issues that matter most to your family.
Stay Informed
Understanding how policy affects services helps you advocate effectively. We provide resources that explain funding mechanisms, legislative priorities, and rights protections so you can speak knowledgeably with decision-makers.
For Brightway Participants
Adults in our day and vocational programs meet monthly to explore self-determination, rights, and leadership. These meetings are a space for growth, often featuring guests from the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS) and local civic leaders.
A Legacy of Excellence
Our self-advocates are recognized leaders, having been named "Self-Advocacy Group of the Year" by SANYS. They regularly present to professionals and government officials across Long Island, proving that their voices are essential to the conversation.
Skills for Life
Beyond the meetings, self-advocacy builds the confidence to make informed choices and participate fully in the decisions that shape a person's life.
